[ So two straight days of rain were no fun for anyone. Particularly Lockon and his first companion. Today, however, the network is greeted by the view of a small stretch of land near the mouth of Cherrygrove with enough room to show off the clear grass. A Ponyta is trotting and cantering about in a small circle, going back and forth to stretch her legs. The flames engulfing the crest of her neck and her tail shimmer and curl about as they break off in the air. Her nostrils flare and let out a steady huff-puff on every stride. ]

Look at you go!

[ Anyone who has spoken to Lockon already will know that the one recording the filly is him. The glee in his voice is palpable. Someone has been cooped up in her ball for a couple of days, clearly. She throws her rear end in the air for a happy buck before her master turns around the device to look into it properly. ]

We made it to Cherrygrove! The rain was... Not so fun. [ He's a little on the damp side at the moment. Having too much fun lettng his friend stretch her legs. ] But we did it! [ He briefly tilts the camera back toward the horse, who has decided to take it down to a walk, stretching her neck. ]We've made some progress too! I've decided to name her 'Stormer' since the rain decided to kick up right as we were getting started. She didn't want to get into the ball for a little while... And she braved the storm well enough before getting tired. I thought the name was fitting.

It's nice to be out of it. [ The feed shakes a bit while the man pats at his belt. ] One more thing, too. We made a new friend! Come on out--

[ Out from the ball pops a stout, cat-like creature standing up on its two legs. Its folded ears twitch a touch and it... Doesn't do much else. Its eyes stare straightahead and Lockon has to crouch down and literally move the device right in front of it for proper viewing purposes. ] I can't tell if she's shy or just tired. She doesn't do too much right now. [ Or at ALL tbh. She just kind of... Stands there and looks. Lockon, however, is positively tickled. ]

This one is Agnes. She's an... Espurr or something like that. She doesn't seem to like Stormer all that much--... Probably for good reason at this point. I don't blame her for having to fight a little. They'll mend it.

[ WILL THEY, LOCKON.............. ]

Anyway, I just wanted to say hello again and let anyone I met know that we made it without too many hiccups. Thank you all again for your help. The only thing I'm curious about is how to prepare myself for the "Gym" thing I will have to do in Violet. Tips are always nice.

I suggest reading up on the Pokemon types and attacks, and visit the bird show in Violet-

[At this point Roy's Hawlucha decides to chime in with 'Lucha!' and there's sounds of wrestling over the pokegear. A battle Roy doesn't win, and the Hawlucha proceeds to give advice on training for a good thirty seconds before Roy puts her back in her pokeball. Unfortunately for non poke-speaking people it's just a string of 'Haw' and 'Lucha' and 'Hawlucha!']

As I was saying... read up on Pokemon types and attacks. My traveling companion and I decided not to challenge the gym leader when we were passing through the first time.

[ The fellow's voice drowned out by the... bird voice is..... confusing...... but sure. ]

Ah-- I was told when I got here to take my time instead of rushing into it right away. He said to look for an "Electric" type buuuut I'm kind of taking what I can get...

There are also devices that can teach moves to your pokemon. I plan to grab one in Goldenrod.

I read about those. I think it's sort of strange that my horse who is literally on fire can't use any fire-based attacks yet...

Fire is volatile. I'm not surprised it can't control it enough to use a fire-based attack if it's a young fire horse.

It takes finesse and precision.

You sound like you know what you're talking about. Do you dabble in fire-types, then?

My first Pokemon was a Growlithe [Who speaks up now that she's being talked about.] and we've been working on her fire technique, but I have quite a bit of experience working with fire from before I came here.

It's a specialty of mine.

[ that sure sounds like a dog who needs to be pet. ]

What did you do before you arrived here?

At home, I'm a soldier and an alchemist.

I'm meeting a lot of fellow soldiers lately. Not... Sure what an alchemist is, though. Isn't that like some sort of mythological magic? [ something about turning things into gold or whatever from old books... ]

Yes, it seems several soldiers showed up this past weekend.

Alchemy is the science of understanding, deconstructing, and reconstructing matter. Some people like to claim it's magic or a miracle and use it to deceive people, but it's not.

Ah... So fire and alchemy were your thing?

There's not Alchemy or anything similar where you're from?

[Cherrygrove was proving to be a lot nicer than Roxas originally thought it would be. In his last time here, he hardly traveled around Johto, being somewhat stuck in Kanto when his friends picked him up.

Walking around after the bad weather was a nice break from working at the Pokémon Center. His little Shinx is trotting ahead of them, Dedenne on her back as if she was a steed. Roxas looks up to make sure the other two hadn't gone off too far on their own.

It takes a moment for his mind to register the human voice. So someone was making a network post? Roxas walks over, making sure to give the other person some space- OH NO NOT GOOD THERE'S AN ESPURR!]

A-Ah...

[ Lockon is putting his Gear back together when the boy rolls around with his pair of Pokemon. Stormer is back to trotting about in circles and whinnying in an attempt to get her master to play with her and stops promptly when she spots the trio. She lets out a low, indignant snort which has Lockon looking up. ]

What is it-- [ Oh look! He perks up a little and gives the boy a wave. ]

Hey there. We're not in your way, are we? [Don't mind the Espurr. She hasn't even really turned to pay attention to anything.........]

[Roxas shakes his head, trying not to look at the Espurr.] N-No! I was just walking around...

[His Shinx was not the type to back down from anything, so she walks right up to the Ponyta and looks up. See? She's not afraid of you, fire horsey.]

Belle! Don't get so close! [Roxas goes over and picks Belle and his Dedenne up, smiling sheepishly at the Ponyta.] Sorry. She's bad with personal space.

[ Stormer is two seconds from taking a sniff and a possible bite at the Shinx's ear before both are picked up and Lockon joins her at her side. ]

No worries. [ He assures them, patting the Ponyta's neck and temporarily placating her. ] Pokemon get curious just like humans, right? There's nothing to apologize for.

[ He makes a vague motion down to the road the just came from. ] We just came here from New Bark. I'm Lockon. This is Stormer, and over there [ Still doing nothing. ] is Agnes.

And you are?

[If the bite had occurred, Stormer would have gotten a shock. Literally.]

Yeah, but she doesn't know when someone gets uncomfortable and that she needs to back away.

[Roxas nods, not seeming too bothered by his Dedenne climbing onto his head. He's a little too busy with a squirming Shinx in his arms.] Same. I'm Roxas! You met Belle already, and my Dedenne's name is Vivi.

[He looks up as a shadow passes by over them, flying lower and lower.] That's my Rufflet, Saix. He... he might come down and try and fight one of yours. I'll put him in the ball if he does that.

[ Pokemon sure are neat. He quirks a smile at the bird and then the mouse and the.... cat thing... ]

Stormer isn't much of a fighter... She might just get annoyed and cranky. [ And be an asshat later probably. ] I'm still trying to figure out their personalities but I'm getting pretty good at it. [ He flashes the boy a wink and Stormer nibbles at his vest without any protestation. He offers a hand out to Roxas! ]

Nice to meet you. The reaction to new blood around here is overwhelmingly positive. [ PEOPLE AREN'T NICE TO EACH OTHER AT HOME....... ]

[Belle manages to get out of her trainers arms and just flops onto the ground. She's just going to lay there for a while. Roxas just sighs and ignores her little outburst, shaking Lockon's hand.]

Everyone here was new at one time or another. When I first got here, so many people talked to me that I got overwhelmed. [Especially since it was mostly people from his world who talked to him, and then tracked him down.]

I've only met a couple of people who weren't all too nice. But there's not many of those.

[ Agnes absently toddles over to the pair of humans, making a disaffected muuuuurr noise before bumping into her master's leg like someone running into a doorframe. ]

I haven't met anyone who isn't-- [ staring cat why are you doing that. He breaks his gaze briefly and flicks it back up. ] --... Nice. One of them was really... different but not mean, I don't think.

[Belle stares at the Espurr as well before getting up and gently knocking the other cat over. Let's play!]

Different's normal here. There's people who weren't even people before they came here. [They might just know the same weird guy.] Like this guy Teddie who says he was a bear before this place.

[ Agnes falls right over like a downed tree. Whump. What is this playing you speak of? ]

A bear? Like an actual bear? Not that I think the name is a joke... [ Meanwhile, Agnes sloooowly gets back up, wandering to the Shinx and deciding that bumping into her is how you play. Bump. She tried. ]

I'm getting used to hearing bizarre things now. I can tell you that I'm a relatively normal human being back at home. So there's nothing to worry about there.

[Wow. That was pathetic.]

That's what he kept saying. But not a normal bear. Like... a magical bear. I don't think an actual bear could come here and be a human. [Belle just kind of blinks. Then bumps the Espurr right back. Okay, we can play like this.]

There's others like him and me who aren't normal back home. We get to be normal here, which is great!

[ The Espurr falls over, gets back up, and proceeds to bump into the Shinx again. This game is enjoyable. ]

I never thought that I would say that being taken to a place with cartoony animals makes me feel normal. But here we are... [ OH HOW FAR WE'VE FALLEN. ]

There's an inn in town, yeah? I'mnot sure if the second set of clothes in my backpack are gonna fit but I'm a little washed out from the storm.

[If you say so. Belle will just keep knocking Agnes over.]

From the things I've seen, these little guys are pretty normal to me. [Kingdom Hearts, everyone.]

The clothes always fit. It's really weird, I thought mine would be too big. I like the clothes this time a lot better. At least there's sleeves.

I haven't seen a real, living, breathing animal in a VERY long time. I'll take these over anything else.

[ He spares a glance to the two cats who are bumping themselves into each other. ]

Agnes, come here... [ He sighs, picking her up just before she falls over again. ] I'd stick around but I'm gonna go get settled before I catch a cold. Keep in touch, Roxas? Sorry to run off so fast...

[ Besides, Roxas looks like he's got places to be probably. And Agnes doesn't need any more blows to the head. ]

[Oh no, Belle doesn't want stop this game with a fellow cat. She huffs, but doesn't try and do anything dumb, like shock the mean trainer.]

It's okay! I was just getting ready to head to Violet City. If I'm there when you get there, I can give you a tour of the place!

[Roxas gives Agnes a pat on the head before smiling at Lockon. At least he's not making friend that were friends with friends. Or so he hopes.]

Good job getting there! The weather wasn't pleasant when we passed through, either, but I think these next few days should be nice travel weather if you're moving on...

[Amy the baby Espurr pokes her head into the camera's view at this point- her stare is a bit more lively than Agnes', and she murrps at the feed. HELLO I AM HERE.

Madoka picks her up gently and cradles her like a baby for the rest of her reply, occasionally scritching her chest fur to elicit louder purring.]

About your Espurr... Espurr can be very quiet. I don't remember what it says in their Pokédex entry, but that might give you a better idea about why... And the best advice for keeping one is to not touch her ears if you can help it, or try to open them- she'll probably be really mad at you! Amy always was when I would try.

And, ah, the Gym challenge isn't something you have to do, I think? But collecting badges is probably a good goal to have... Not much goes on here. If you want to get an idea of what Falkner-sama is like to battle, watch his Aerial Show here! He puts it on every week, I think it's something like Monday, Wednesday, Friday. It's very impressive.

[Giving people advice when she Knows Things is something that makes Madoka feel good.]

Ah--... I think the entry said something about psychic power in their ears that can level a city. [ That isn't terrifying at all. ] She doesn't mind being touched or anything. She just doesn't really react... I think she needs to warm up, is all.

[ She DOES turn on a foot when she hears the cheerful purring of her own kind. She even toddles over like a fat little stuffed animal just to take a look while Lockon is still crouching down and keeping the device in view. HELLO FRIEND. ]

There you go... [ He sighs, relieved for the most part and snaps up to get to the bit about Falkner. ] I've heard that he's got a lot of talent. Even if the badge thing is optional, I think it's a good way to start out until I decide what I really want to do.

What's your name, Miss? I'm Lockon.

Espurr, huh. I had one of those myself--I still do, but she evolved.

[lancer please.]

She was a hell of a handful.

How so...?

She had this weird phase where she did nothing but make this long high-pitched noise like a siren. No idea when she even stopped to breathe, actually.

... Not all of them do that, do they?

Nope. Always seemed like it was just Caren, and she grew out of it eventually.

... Be careful. All of the Psychic types I have are kind of tough to deal with. But from what I've seen, Espurr are pretty... weird.

I haven't done Falkner's gym, but from what I hear it's the easiest of the gyms in the area. Lower level, and Fling types are weak to a few things that are easy to catch early on.

... Stormer, huh?

[He whistles and there's a clattering of hooves before he turns the camera around and points it at his Rapidash.]

This is what she'll evolve into. They're extremely fast, and their attack is pretty high, too.

[Yuko trots over and sniffs at the camera. What's going on?]
